Each year over one million people in the U.S. undergo LASIK surgery to correct their vision. It is used to effectively treat common eye conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. LASIK or Laser-Assisted-In-Situ Keratomileusis is one of the safest and most effective vision correction procedures. Dr. Gregg Feinerman, LASIK Orange County board certified surgeon, has performed thousands of LASIK procedures since 1998.

He uses the world’s most advanced medical technology and techniques, such Custom All Laser LASIK with Ziemer technology, making LASIK safer with fewer risks than ever before. Recognized as one of the leading LASIK Newport Beach surgeons today, Dr. Feinerman believes the advanced technology of the Ziemer femtosecond laser has considerable advantages over the older IntraLase technology.

LASIK surgery is basically a two step procedure, reshaping your cornea to match your vision correction needs.  First, the surgeon uses a highly focused femtosecond laser beam to create a corneal flap on the surface of the eye that is gently lifted.  Secondly, an excimer laser beam is focused on the corneal stroma to precisely reshape the cornea. The Ziemer femtosecond laser is unique because it creates the corneal flap at a higher pulse rate with lower pulse energies than IntraLase. The lower energy released with each pulse using the Ziemer laser gives patients increased safety, more comfort, and faster healing time than any other technology in the world. Not only is this laser technically better than Intralase; but it also allows a thinner more precise LASIK flap than what can be achieved with a mechanical blade-driven microkeratome. In additional to these patient-advantages, the Ziemer system is one of the fastest lasers on the market making the procedure complete within minutes, generally without pain.

As the first surgeon in California to perform LASIK with the Ziemer laser, Dr. Feinerman’s specialized skills and training in Ziemer technology keep his professional expertise current and provide his patients improved safety. He also provides freedom from dependency on glasses or contact lenses in the vast majority of his patients. These remarkable advancements in the field of laser eye surgery have greatly increased the efficacy and consistency of LASIK, enabling more people to undergo LASIK surgery without complications. LASIK has become one of the best investments a for people who are burdened by glasses and contact lenses. Over the years, the cost of glasses and contacts are more than the cost of LASIK.

Because LASIK is a surgical procedure, many people are concerned that it might be painful. However, LASIK is usually virtually painless. LASIK is performed while the patient is awake (Xanax is usually provided), and is an extremely safe and effective procedure. In general, patients can expect LASIK recovery to be relatively quick and pain free. For most patients, vision is greatly improved by the following morning. Based out of Newport Beach, Dr. Gregg Feinerman will be able to determine which LASIK procedure is best for you and discuss your options based on your unique needs.

Dr. Feinerman had LASIK by his mentor, Dr Howard Gimbel, when he completed his LASIK fellowship more than ten years ago.

“I am so pleased with my LASIK experience. When I had my LASIK surgery, I had already performed many successful LASIK procedures. Thus, I was fully aware of the surgeon’s perspective. My LASIK surgery enabled me to experience the patient’s perspective, which makes me a better surgeon to this day. I enjoy helping people through the procedure so it is a positive experience, and feel blessed to help people achieve better vision.” Gregg Feinerman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
