Most people have considered LASIK at some point but held back out of fear or uncertainty. However, our patients who have had LASIK always tend to tell us the same thing. They say they can’t believe how convenient it is and their only regret is not having the surgery sooner.
If you regularly wear contacts or glasses, there are numerous daily irritations and hindrances you deal with. Over time, you may stop noticing them to an extent because they seem normal. It’s only after LASIK that people realize how freeing their life without contacts or glasses can be.
In previous blog posts, we’ve talked a lot about the benefits of LASIK and why you should consider the surgery. But it’s hard to put that in context until you think about all the little irritations LASIK will remove from your life.
So let’s look at a few things you won’t miss after LASIK:
- Forgetting to take your contacts out when you go to bed
Have you ever woken up in the morning and realized you forgot to take your contacts out the night before? It’s definitely a feeling that is impossible to miss — your eyes are dry and irritated and your contacts feel like they’ve been superglued to your eyes.
- Buying new contacts and/or glasses every year
For most people, insurance doesn’t cover all of their yearly expenses for contacts and glasses. And it definitely doesn’t cover those emergency trips to Target when you realize you’ve run out of contact solution at 10 PM.
- Your glasses always getting in the way
Are your glasses a constant companion? If so, then you know how inconvenient they can be. The lens fog up the minute you come inside your warm house after being out in the cold. And they can cause problems with daily activities, like playing sports or exercising.
- Dry, irritated eyes after wearing your contacts all day
If you are like many people that wear contacts the majority of the time, you may be desperate for a break by the end of the day. Wearing contacts all day long can cause your eyes to become red and irritated.
- Havings to pack your contacts, solution, and glasses for every trip
Traveling should be an enjoyable experience but it’s definitely not fun having to remember to pack your contacts, solution, and glasses everytime you go anywhere. And it’s even worse if you forget them!
