IntraLase® – Blade-free LASIK in Newport Beach, Orange County
The first step of any LASIK procedure is to create a flap in the cornea; the actual laser treatment is done beneath this flap in order to reduce healing time. In traditional LASIK, this flap is created with a handheld metal blade called a microkeratome. While rare, there have been some complications associated with the use of microkeratomes.
With the advance of technology, it is now possible to create a corneal flap using a laser, rather than a blade. This revolutionary new laser, called IntraLase®, is offered by Newport Beach, Orange County doctor Gregg Feinerman. How IntraLase® Works
To make a corneal flap using IntraLase®, Newport Beach doctor Gregg Feinerman focuses the laser on a precise point inside the cornea. Then, with each laser pulse, microscopic bubbles are created within the cornea. These bubbles can be accurately positioned together to separate the corneal tissue and create a flap, which is then folded back by Dr. Feinerman in preparation for corneal reshaping.

Benefits of IntraLase® Blade-Free LASIK & Ziemer FEMTO LDV®
